Sabra - CH Lejongardens Athene July 1993 - 2002 Our first Leo and the beginning of many 'firsts' in our lives after that. She arrived at the airport only 8 weeks old , howling with indignation at being in a crate and it was love at first sight. Loyal, loving and very the reason we fell in love with the breed in the first place. Bailey - CH Schiehallion River Tay April 2006 - June 2015 She kept aloof until she got to know you and then there was no holding back. She would take you by the hand and demand attention. A NZKC Champion, albeit reluctantly . .she didn't like the show arena at all. Our watchdog and sentry, our beautiful girl - missed incredibly by us all. Tia - - CH Leonz Stunning Storm December 2006 - January 2016 This big beautiful girl had the stance and the heart of a lion. We called her our biker chick. Tia was not a 'showy' dog but we believed in her soundness and she didn't disappoint, gaining her NZKC Champion title. She took on the role of 'leader of the pack' with quiet authority. She leaves some very big paw prints to fill in our heart. Glenn - CH Schiehallion Glenmorangie March 2011 - March 2017 Tragically taken from us far too soon. Our beautiful girl suffered GDV and even though she was rushed to the vet and underwent surgery, those few hours afterwards were tough and she didn’t pull through. Glenn was the most patient of all our dogs and a brilliant mother to our 2 litters. She always welcomed you with her trademark ‘squeaky’ enthusiasm. She was very happy to share her space with any Leo visitor. Being the ‘middle’ child she just went about her business, happy to be part of the family, neither bossy nor demanding. She will always hold a special place in our hearts. Amstel - Leonz Absolutely Amstel Aug 2009 - May 2019 Our darling boy didn't quite reach that 10 year milestone. One day he was large as life, the next day he was gone.. He was certainly no show specimen with his wonky tail and his thick woolly coat but he had the most kissable nose and fancied himself as quite the 'dude' with the ladies. The girls never dissuaded him of that notion, not once, so maybe he was right! He did win a Best Baby Puppy in Group ribbon once but It all went downhill from there as he is grew into his body. Alas - a show dog he was not!. Amstel was a Therapy dog with the Canine Friends society and worked his magic at the old folks home. He also proved his ability in Water Rescue . We all just loved him to bits. Stella - Skyewood Vibrant Vixen May 2008 - Feb 2020 We hoped our gorgeous girl would be here for her 12th birthday but alas that was not meant to be.. It was a beautiful summer morning and she just slipped away chasing bunnies whilst snoozing in the sun. morning.. Stella was the complete package as far as size, movement, angulation and show quality go. Being 3rd in the pack she sometimes got overlooked so would bring you a little treasure picked up off the ground or garden for attention. Our proudest moment was when she won BEST IN SHOW , Best Bitch and Best Champion in October 2011. under International specialist judge Guido Perosino.. Missed by us all. Jager-Jemineus Joppus Domus Corona May 2015 - Sept 2020 Jager was a handsome hunk of LOVE and we lost him much too early to that awful bogeyman Osteosarcoma. He was our very first import kindly sent to us by our dear friends Wilma and Ben from the Netherlands and he was the most magnificent , gentle giant we could have ever hoped for. Our girls all loved him, he was a gentleman in every way and our home is empty without him. Sake - Lejonsol JP Colorful Love Aurora Jan 2016 - 2022 Our beautiful girl Sake came to us from Japan and was a wonderful mother to our Asahi litter. She was an athletic girl and moved with poise and elegance - a real pleasure to show.Sake was always fully alert to what was happening around the place, and would announce the arrival of visitors with gusto. We sure do miss her. Vino - Lyonzred Waina Kara Poroporo Nov 2017 - Jan 2023 Miss Vino sure was a chip off the old block. A little replica of her mum, Misia our homebred girl., strong and muscular with a deep mahogany coat. Her adult years were spent with Georgia and Richard - spoiled to the core and quite the social butterfly. Her beautiful nature and laid back temperament are wonderful attributes that she has passed on to our most recent litter. Taken from us far too soon and sorely missed by us all.. Syrah Lyonzred Beaujolais La Jaune MAY 2013 -NOV 2023 A sweetheart - pick of our very first litter.. She was adept at ankle tapping or gumboot tapping to be exact. Everyone was considered her best friend! Yes, this little minx did the hard yards in the show ring and can boast NZKC Champion status but her elbow tests failed to meet our criteria for breeding so we didn't follow the breeding route with her instead opting to let her enjoy a very long life here on the ranch without the hassle of 'kids'. |
